I’ve become interested in Marlin’s new XT rifles but I’ve noticed that their synthetic stocks don’t have a sling swivel mount. Anyone know of any bipods that can mount regardless of that? If you don’t know of any, what relatively inexpensive bipods do you know of that mount easily to swing swivel mounts? Inexpensive price range would be less than $100 for a bipod.

You have two choices. Get one that has a wooden stock or you can buy a screw in mount and install it behind the sling mount.

i have the chance to buy one of these rifles at my local pawn shop, the remington 700 sps with sights and no scope for $389.00 in great condition in 7mm remington mag or a weatherby vanguard, it has a synthetic stock with a bushnell banner 50mm scope and sling for about $420 with tax in 300 win mag also great condition, its kind of a hard choice to decide which one ,could i get some answers on which rifle to buy, thanks in advance
Yea it will probably just be a coin toss , I got a 30-06 so I really dont want another 30 cal. The 7mm is also cheaper to reload for, but @ 6’0 and 250 I’m not recoil sensitive , but in my state (ok) a 300 is really to big on game here

I put the 700 and Vanguard about equal for quality,dependability and accuracy. Both use a synthetic stock,and the Remington seems to get replaced a lot. Personally it would be a coin toss if I bought either make. With the Banner you are getting a decent entry level scope,$150-$190 MSRP, for $30 more.
Problem might come down to the cartridge-if you don’t like recoil then the 300 isn’t going to be your friend. I have a 30-06 and 300 WSM,and the WSM uses pretty much same powder load as Win Mag,and using 165 grain bullets in each the 30-06 is pleasant to shoot compared to the WSM.
There are almost 10 grains more powder in a 300 Mag than 30-06,or 7mm Mag which loads out nearly identical to 06 in most powders. The 7 Mag can get good velocities because it pushes a smaller diameter bullet with the same amount energy as 30-06 with similar weight bullets,like using a nozzle on a hose.
IMO the economics and quality favor the Vanguard,but the recoil might make some hesitate.
If you are familiar with the 300 Mag’s performance/recoil then it would be the choice.
